Anonymous asked: "Wow, this is amazing. How exactly were you guys able to arrange such a thing like this? I'd really like to hear this story if you don't mind! I wish I could start something similar on the East Coast, since California always gets all the cool stuff. ): I'm so sad something amazing like this is happening but it's so far away! How is it possible to start such an amazing thing like you guys have?"

Well, it’s sort of a long story but it began with the founding of the very first ever recognized collegiate  KPOP appreciation club in the country and on campus known as K-Popular. As the club grew so did our club founders’ dreams. What became a brainstorm one summer became reality when in the fall of 2011 it was announced that as crazy as it sounded, they wanted to have the very first KPOP convention for KPOP fans. On campus clubs get funding from the university and certain rights to use rooms on campus for free or sometimes a smaller fee than non-university affiliates. With the aid of some school funding and monetary support from both the founders and sponsors and the countless donations from restaurants and even free time from performers, we were able to have our convention be both affordable and accessible for our attendees. We didn’t exactly plan to have over 300 people show up, we honestly thought 150 was thinking big but for what started as a small convention idea blew up. We were featured on the Korea Times and other online blogs, we were even sponsored by Viki, Soompi, and Yesstyle. The reason why I think we were able to be successful this first round was because of the great people on staff, from those in charge of emailing possible sponsors that had been working somewhat in the KPOP industry to those who were brand new but confident and friendly when emailing possible youtube star attendees and those who spent hours designing a professional theme to make us look like a big deal. It was a lot of work. Honestly, some of us, including myself, didn’t get any sleep the night before. To answer your part about the east coast convention however, as far as we know though, there is a company planning to make a convention in New York.
